It All Started With Some Very Dry Hands…
Working with young children means I wash my hands… a lot, like 800 times a day a lot! Add the wonderful dry mountain air into the mix, and my hands were extremely angry.
I wanted something rich and moisturizing that actually made my skin feel good. Something that worked without a 2-mile-high ingredient list. That little search eventually led me to beef tallow, then to making my own skincare, and somehow I ended up here!
Alyssum & Hyssop was born from my love for simple, thoughtfully made products that work well. Everything is handcrafted by me in my kitchen, in small batches, using ingredients I have carefully selected. I genuinely love and use the products I make.

It’s what’s on the inside that matters
I’m a little picky when it comes to what goes into my products. Every ingredient is there for a reason. I choose ingredients I genuinely love, that work together, and make your skin feel good! No long ingredient lists, just the good stuff and a whole lot of love.
Beef Tallow
Not all tallow is created equal! I’m pretty picky about the tallow I use and, after trying several different types, I found one that truly stood apart. I use high-quality 100% grass-fed beef tallow that is rich in skin loving fatty acids and gives my products their beautifully rich, moisturizing feel. It helps soften and moisturize dry skin while leaving it feeling smooth, nourished, and happy.
Glycerin
AKA a little moisture magnet! Glycerin attracts water and helps your skin hold onto that moisture, keeping it feeling soft, smooth, and hydrated. I love adding it to my products because sometimes your skin just needs a little extra help holding onto the good stuff.
Squalane Oil
Silky smooth without the greasy feeling! Squalane is a lightweight oil that helps lock in moisture and leaves skin feeling incredibly soft and smooth. I love adding it to my formulas because it gives them that amazing silky feel while still keeping things light and comfortable on your skin.
Ceramides
Your skin’s little helpers! Ceramides are naturally found in your skin and help support its protective barrier, keeping moisture in and helping prevent it from escaping. I add them to my products to help keep your skin feeling soft, moisturized, and cared for.
Jojoba Oil
Lightweight, but still does its job. Jojoba is actually a liquid wax that closely resembles components of the skin’s natural oils. It helps soften and condition the skin while adding moisture without feeling overly heavy or greasy. I love using it alongside tallow because it helps give my products that smooth, balanced feel.
Vitamin E
A little extra love for your skin! Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant that helps protect your skin from environmental stressors while helping moisturize and nourishing it. It can help soothe and calm the skin, especially when your skin is feeling dry or needs a little extra care.
About the Owner and Maker
A little about me! I was born and raised in the Chicagoland area and eventually made my way to the beautiful Colorado 🏔️ , where I’ve called home for a little over six years.
When I’m not formulating and crafting skincare, I’m a toddler teacher here in the high country. I spend my days playing, nurturing, loving, and helping shape little minds. Working in childcare also means I’m washing my hands constantly. Between that and living at 10,000 feet, dry skin has become a very familiar part of my life.
That’s what led me to tallow skincare in the first place, and eventually to creating this little business and sharing the products I love with all of you!
Everything at A&H is formulated, made, poured, labeled, designed, photographed, and packaged by me. I’m hands-on with every product from beginning to end. There has been a LOT of learning, experimenting, and growing along the way, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Outside of toddlers and A&H, I’m a wife, dog mom to Baylor (who insisted on joining the photos 🐾), and I love crafting, cooking, hiking, camping, paddle boarding, board games, and crocheting.
I’m so grateful for God leading me here and for every person who has ordered, followed along, shared my page, visited my website, or simply encouraged me through this process. I love you all, and I’m so happy you’re here!
